Join the David Suzuki Foundation’s Blue Dot movement to recognize the right to a healthy environment. The right to a healthy environment is the simple yet powerful idea that all people deserve to breathe fresh air, drink clean water and eat safe food.
Most Canadians believe we already have environmental rights, but we don’t. Since 2014, more than 100,000 citizens have joined the Blue Dot movement for environmental rights. Volunteers have helped pass municipal resolutions across the country, and now almost half of Canada’s population lives in municipalities that support the right to a healthy environment! It’s time to take it to the next level!
A federal environmental bill of rights would empower Canadians by ensuring greater transparency and participation in environmental decision-making. Although the Canadian government is beginning to recognize that real changes are needed to protect the environment, there is no better time than the present to ensure that a healthy environment is a right extended to all Canadians.
