Shawna O’Hearn, Director, International Health Office – Dalhousie
gave a lecture titled Global Health: Identifying Opportunities for Research and Education September 16 at 8:30 am in Room 127 of the Computer Science building.
Shawna has been the director of the International Health Office at Dalhousie University since February 2008. Her background is in international development with a Masters from Saint Mary’s University. Shawna is a registered occupational therapist complimented with ten years of field work in West and East Africa, South Asia, West Indies and Nunavut.
She has worked with international projects and organizations focusing on the implementation of the UN Convention on the RIghts of the Child. Her experience includes working in marginalized communities in Canada and abroad with a special focus on aboriginal health, children and gender.
Shawna is also a board member of the Canadian Coalition for Global Health Research.
