Following up on Elisa Jenkin’s Round the World Yacht Race, the Sunday Herald provided continuing coverage on January 3rd. Elisa, a 2002 School of Physiotherapy graduate, reached Geraldton, Australia after racing against 10 identical, 20-metre racing yachts starting on September 13. This is almost the halfway point of the race as Elisa and her crew are geographically on the exact opposite side of the world to Cape Breton, Elisa’s home. The finish line for the next leg of the race is Qingdao, China by way of Singapore.
More than just racing, Elisa is hoping to raise $35,000 – a dollar for every mile the yacht is expected to travel – to help pay for an expansion of the cancer centre in Sydney. You can track Elisa Jenkins progress or make a tax-deductible donation by visiting online at www.capebretonclipper.com
