Ride for Cancer 2017

Ride for Cancer is a one day cycling event for rookie and experienced riders alike in support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada and the QEII Health Sciences Centre Foundation. In just two years, the event has raised more than $585,000 net in support of cancer research, treatment, and patient care. Last year alone, the event had approximately 300 participants and raised approximately $415,000 net! Among other things, funds raised were used to:

  1. Support a local researcher at Dalhousie University who uses zebrafish to find better therapies for patients with difficult to treat types of leukemia
  2. Purchase an EBUS Machine (a piece of equipment that allows doctors to diagnose enlarged lymph nodes in the chest without the need for surgery)
  3. Provide free care packages for newly diagnosed blood cancer patients

The 2017 event will take place on September 30th and will offer 5 distance options from Mahone Bay to Halifax – 25km, 50km, or 100km via trail OR 100km or 130km via road. Check out the event video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jr1hzMMep-A.
