As part of Dalhousie’s ongoing commitment to employee wellness, we are changing to an enhanced mental health benefit effective April 1, 2020. The enhanced benefit expands services to include a broader range of mental health professionals; it also offers a higher annual maximum to be used solely for mental health practitioners. Coverage for all other existing health practitioners remain unchanged.
What do these enhanced mental health benefits mean for plan members?
On April 1, 2020 the following changes to the health plan will take effect:
– Members will have access to an expanded list of mental health service providers, including psychologists, social workers, counselling therapists, psychotherapists, psychoeducators, and internet
cognitive behavioural therapy (iCBT).
– Members will have a dedicated annual maximum of $1,500 to be used towards the mental health practictioners listed above.
– All other existing health practitioners (chiropractor, osteopath, chiropodist/podiatrist, and physiotherapist) remain covered under a separate $500 combined annual maximum.
