December is the best time of year for many reasons: it makes snow seem enjoyable and allows you to spoil your friends and family. It makes it OK to belt out Mariah Carey and Michael Bublé at the top of your lungs and, most importantly, it gives you an excuse to bake. Cakes, cookies, pies, brownies, the list goes on. Here are a few of the best baked goods on Earth. (And if you want some recipes of more fantastic treats from around the world, check out this post from last year.)
1. Chocolate Peanut Butter Balls
Did you get that? Chocolate. Peanut Butter. Balls. They’re little drops of heaven (if heaven was made of crunchy peanut butter, Rice Krispies, and chocolate) that always seem to disappear the quickest at holiday parties. So if you’re looking to impress, check out the incredibly easy recipe here.
2. Nanaimo Bars
These tasty treats, I have recently learned, are a Canadian thing. Which makes sense, now that I think about it. But wow, America, do you know what you’re missing out on? These chocolate-y, creamy, squares of deliciousness are easy to make and even easier to eat. Get the no-bake recipe here.
3. Peppermint Bark
Peppermint Bark is basically Christmas in dessert form. This chocolate treat is simple to make, and allows you to eat candy canes and white chocolate in one go. That’s way healthier than eating them separately, right? Click here to get started.
4. Sugar Cookies
Ah, the classic sugar cookie: traditional but unavoidable. Sugar cookies are always enjoyable and give you the freedom to design and decorate. Pick yourself up some fun cookie cutters and use them on this recipe.
5. Caramel-Apple Cupcakes with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting
WOW. You read that right. The name is mouth-watering enough, and cinnamon is always a must during this season. This particular recipe might be a tad meticulous and not for rookies, but the end product is so worth it. Check it out Check it out here.
6. Chocolate Fondue
This doesn’t exactly involve much baking, but it’s a dessert nonetheless. And a delicious one at that. (Who doesn’t like dipping other food in chocolate?) Get started Get started here.
