So you’re starting at Dal! Yeah! We have a bunch of amazing Orientation events to welcome you to campus, introduce you to new lifelong friends, help you be a successful student, and make you feel part of the Dalhousie community. And one of the most popular Orientation traditions we have is the Induction ceremony.
If Convocation marks the end of your undergrad experience, Induction is the beginning. It’s your official welcome to Dal—an opportunity to get a taste of the supportive scholarly community you’re joining. As part of the ceremony, you’ll be welcomed into the new class of Dalhousie by our president, Dr. Richard Florizone. You’ll also be invited to make your Dalhousie University pledge—a commitment to the university and to yourself to be an ethical, inclusive, and respectful citizen of Dal.
So why go to the Induction ceremony?
- It’s a special event to celebrate your past and future academic aspirations and success
- Swag! You’ll get an awesome Dalhousie black and gold scarf!
- You’ll officially be welcomed into the Dalhousie community
- You can check out some of your first-year professors
This year Induction takes place in Halifax at the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium (Dal Arts Centre) on Monday, Sept. 4 at 6:30pm and 7:30pm (depending on what residence you’re in or attached to during Orientation), and in Truro at the Alumni Theatre on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 1pm.
See you there!
