As always, there is plenty happening in the Basin and Reservoir Lab. Back from a relaxing holiday break, students and staff alike have been busy. This year, representing Dalhousie University's Dawson Energy in the annual AAPG Imperial Barrel Award Competition (IBA), will be Maya Soukup, Zachary Feener, Fiona Henderson, Patrick Manion, and Kyle Wittenberg. This competition is an international basin evaluation competition for small teams of geoscience students. At Dalhousie University the IBA program is available for course credit as ERTH 4131/5131 Advanced Petroleum Geoscience, allowing undergraduates to compete in a Master’s level competition. This past Friday, March 27th, Dalhousie's 2015 IBA team competed in the AAPG's IBA in Calgary, Alberta (read more). The team presented very well and tied for 4th place with the University of Alberta and McMaster University. First place went to Queens University, who will go on to represent Canada at the 2015 AAPG Annual Convention and Exhibition in Denver, Colorado at the end of May. Second place went to the University of Calgary, and third place to the University of Western Ontario.
