AGS Colloquium 2016
At this year's annual AGS Colloquium in Truro, Dalhousie University's Earth Sciences Department was overwhelmingly well represented. With over 30 students attending, and several presenting on their research, Dalhousie Earth Sciences students walked away with several wins. The Basin Lab's own J.Carlos Wong won the first ever Encana Award, presented for Offshore Research, and the Graham Williams Award was presented to Earth Sciences student Cody Page for the best graduate student poster. What’s in store for 2016?
There are numerous events, conferences, competitions, and seminars planned for Basin and Reservoir Lab members this year! Here are just a few of the events scheduled for 2016: The Atlantic Geoscience Society Colloquium (AGS) 2016, will take place February 5-6th in Truro, Nova Scotia. The 14th annual Petroleum Field Methods trip to Trinidad, The group will leave for Trinidad with 10 students from the ERTH 4157 Petroleum Geoscience Field Methods course this February 12-20th. AAPG Imperial Barrel Award 2016 Team Begins Analysis!
This year, representing Dalhousie University's Dawson Energy in the annual AAPG Imperial Barrel Award Competition (IBA), will be Maya Soukup, Zachary Feener, Fiona Henderson, Patrick Manion, and Kyle Wittenberg. This competition is an international basin evaluation competition for small teams of geoscience students. At Dalhousie University the IBA program is available for course credit as ERTH 4131/5131 Advanced Petroleum Geoscience, allowing undergraduates to compete in a Master’s level competition.
