Last summer, Lab members gained international recognition when they won 1st place in the international EAGE Field Challenge competition in Madrid, Spain. The team also won €3000 for the Dalhousie EAGE Student Chapter. With the winnings of the competition, over twenty news books were purchased on behalf of the Dalhousie University EAGE Student Chapter. At this year's annual AGS Colloquium in Truro, Dalhousie University's Earth Sciences Department was overwhelmingly well represented. With over 30 students attending, and several presenting on their research, Dalhousie Earth Sciences students walked away with several wins. The Basin Lab's own J.Carlos Wong won the first ever Encana Award, presented for Offshore Research, and the Graham Williams Award was presented to Earth Sciences student Cody Page for the best graduate student poster.
