After breakfast this morning we had a quick lecture on counting ungulates. Soon after we split up into two vehicles and took off to do a count on a small section of the game reserve. One group got very lucky and got to see most of the animals such as Mountain Reedbuck, Waterbuck, Black-backed Jackal, Mountain and Plains Zebra, Secretary Birds and Nyala to name a few. The other group was not as lucky since our vehicle broke down and left us stranded in the bush in the non-carnivore side which is used for breeding ungulates and rare species. After an hour of “bush talk” we were rescued and made up for it by finding the Cape Buffalo herd. On our way back to the camp our second vehicle was discovered to have two tires low on air that needed some air along. Andrew got a little concerned when the fuel light came on and thought the fuel tank was nearly empty, not realising that there was a sub-fuel tank. After these minor difficulties we were late for lunch and short on time so we had a Ferrari Safari back to the camp. On our way back we were lucky enough to see about 15 giraffe grazing among the trees and a baby Plains Zebra with its mother.
